Day 1 - THCC 101
One of my Creative Chemistry 101 Class 1 experimentations using one stamp plus crown stamp, 4 different inkpads, Strathmore Windpower coldpress watercolor paper. The inks are from top clockwise Adirondack - Raisin (dye), Colorbox Fluid Chalk - Coral Rose (dye), Memories - Soft Celery (dye), Distress - Peeled Paint (dye). Also used are Distress Markers, waterbrush, spray water bottle, craft sheet. I was pleasantly surprised as I never thought of stamping on watercolor paper before and I really like it!

It's been awhile!

I just finished an online class with Tim Holtz so now I'm a graduate! It's been great fun. I did more stamping and inking than I have ever and learned so much!

Happy Valentine’s Day!
Valentine card I made for my Mom. Front of card features glitter paper background, metallic heart stickers, paper doilies, 3 dimensional girl with foam relief from vintage ephemera cd. The entire card is very intricate requiring a lot of scissor cutting!

Inside the Valentine card is a 3D pop-up heart tied closed with a red ribbon. The Medium heart is hand cut from a template design by Sandy Jackson from Some Assembly Required. The heart opens to reveal a scene of vintage collage elements within the heart “tunnel.” I re-engineered the design myself to have a gatefold and hollowed out center similar to her egg design.

Catching Up
I've been sick all week so just taking it easy. Last night and today I've been experimenting with different web apps to see how I can use my iPhone to integrate and update my blog, Flickr, and Ravelry on the go, now that I remembered I have one! Because if I have to go home after working all day, get my laptop out just to post stuff, it ain't going to happen!
I've been able to use my iPhone solely for much of it to my surprise. Flickr is a great place to upload photos from the phone camera. However, Ravelry is difficult to navigate on the iPhone as the drop down menus don't work, and the drag & drop only Flickr tools for adding photos doesn't work. They are working on a beta beta iPhone version but it's just a teaser right now.
iPhoneslide.com works GREAT for uploading photos to Flickr via their post to email system.
I used to think I was on the cutting edge of personal desktop publishing but somehow the whole blog, photo sharing, journal thing consumer-style got past me. I think I'm catching up though. My philosophy is technology should be used to help make life easier, not take time away from the important stuff.

Anime Cosplay
Awesome photo of daughter Caroline's Cosplay costume of "Kanoe." She made her costume herself, and hand-dyed each feather. I'm so proud!

New Year - New Hope
So here it is... It's been 4 months since my first post. And while playing with my iPhone update I decided it would be a good idea to add my blog icon to my home screen. I couldn't even remember what the name of my blog was! Meanwhile, I learned how to knit in December '07 and just joined Ravelry.com with my new Stitch N Chicks friends and noticed some have links to their blogs. Oh, yeah... I have a blog, too. Well sort of!

Life Is Just A Blog Full Of Webs

Why?
I asked myself, do I need a blog. It seems like such a narcissistic activity. Like I would have time for one more thing to own me. Until during the course of the last week through a series of synchronistic events, (I'm so tired of that word, there must be a synonym for it), I felt the need to jot down the things that seemed to be screaming at me to connect the dots. So I started entering them in to my iPhone Notes and it felt good to exorcise the pesky thoughts from my head. Then I decided that maybe I DID need a blog so I wouldn't have to bother my friends and relatives with my mad musings. That would be it! Not a diary or a "Hey, Everyone, Look At Me" but a virtual filing cabinet to clear out my brain and store the discarded away, never to be seen again, or perhaps... Well, anyway, I won't need to remember what I forgot to forget anymore. "Spiderweb, Ray Charles sai-ay-ed," Joan Osborne.
