Mermaid Kite

Mermaid Kite
This is a kite I made a couple of years ago, out of tissue and book wrapping paper, collage and cut paper. I enlarged the previous cutwork mermaid and glued to the kite. The tail was made from a decorative grass skirt and silk flower. We were decorating the office with them as a fun Summer beach theme.

Papercut Mermaid

It's been a really long time since I posted to my blog. I started a Facebook page and so have been posting more on that. It's hard when you don't have a lot of time to even create and then have more than one social media place to post. I just signed up for an online class with 2 favorite artists, Teesha Moore and Jane Davenport called Mermaid Circus. Before the class starts tomorrow, I thought I'd do some catch up with some art I never got around to uploading.

First up is a handcut mermaid from patterned and plain paper. Very small detail scissors were used to cut out the intricate positive and negative shapes. She was embellished with pencil, ink and Perfect Pearls mica powder.
